Harley-Davidson® 2004 Factory Recalls

Here are the recalls for 2005 Harley-Davidson's that I know about.  For 2005 there were approximately 145,000 bikes recalled for one reason or another.  Chances are you '05 is on the list with these numbers.  If all of these had been taken back to the dealer and fixed it seems like it would have broken the MoCo.  I wonder how many of these bikes are wandering around out there without having gone back for their required fixes?  If you know of any recalls that I have missed then please let me know.  If I have missed anything you know about then email me at biners@crowderinc.com

FXD, FXDX, FXDI, FXDXI Dyna Glide

NHTSA Campaign ID:
Component:  Electrical, Suspension

Potential Number of Units Affected: 464

Defect Summary: Certain Harley-Davidson aftermarket voltage regulator covers, P/N 74593-04 that can be installed on 2004 and 2005 FXD, FXDX, FXDI, FXDXI Dyna Glide motorcycles, or 2005 FXDC and FXDCI Dyna Glide model motorcycles. The cover may contact the front fender under certain circumstances.

Consequence Summary: Contact may allow the cover and the fender to lock together, thereby limiting suspension travel and steering, possibly resulting in a vehicle crash.

Corrective Summary: Harley-Davidson will notify its customers and repair the motorcycles by removing the accessory cover free of charge. The recall is expected to begin during December 2004. Owners who take their vehicles to an authorized dealer on an agreed upon service date and do not receive the free remedy within a reasonable time should contact Harley Davidson at 1-414-343-4056.
