2008 TOUR DE GEORGIA
STAGE FIVE
Stage five started with the usual fanfare in the city center of Suwanee Georgia. Over the past few years the local government and private sector have completed a major downtown revitalization project which makes this a woderful venue for a host city to the Tour de Georgia. A big crowd was on hand for the rider sign in and opening ceremony.
The start was uneventful at first and the riders left with their usual fanfare. The peloton mad a parade lap around the main part of the city and gave the fans another chance to see the riders. After the peloton moved through for second time, two fans that must not have known that their were still support vehicles on the course stepped under a rope barricade and right in front of an official Tour photographers motorcycle.
Once again I am getting tired so I'll get more posted tomorrow while I await the melee atop Brasstown Bald....
