TREK Y-ME

This bike started out as a generic Y-3 from the early days of the Y series.  I customized the graphics to suit my tastes.  The Yme is what the bike says every time I get on it.  It could be owned by someone in Buckhead who just rides it to Starbucks but I don't play like that.  The dead cats on the frame have some significance.  To earn a dead cat I must have a crash that both involves a trip to the bike shop and the doctor.  Just one of the two is considered normal riding and does not merit any recognition.  The mastodon with the big headed rider reminds me that if you mess with the bull your going to get the horns but for a while your going to have that big headed Superman feeling.  I think the regular adrenalin fix is worth the occasional accident.

This bike has been upgraded with a Manitou SXR front fork and a Fox Vanilla rear shock.  The shifters and rear derailleur are SRAM E.S.P. 9.0 and the cranks are cheap Shimano's since they see so much abuse.  I am on the third set of handelbars and am currently using Profile riser bars on the factory Bontrager stem.  The seat post and seat are also the factory supplied components.  The wheels are mismatched "deals" that I pick up as the previous wheels get destroyed.  Mountain biking sure seems hard on wheels.  While this bike is very heavy by today's standards it still serves me well and rides like a Cadillac on the really rough down hill stuff.
