2008 TOUR DE GEORGIA

MORE STAGE TWO

April 22, 4:30 pm:

Another exciting stage was topped off today with a field sprint in which J.J. Haedo of team CSC took the win by overpowering his competition in the final 100 meters of the race.   He managed this feat with a broken hand.  In the press conference that followed, Carol asked J.J. how he broke the bone in his hand. He told her that while training, in Spain, a dog ran out in front of the motorcycle he was following and when the motorcycle rider hit the brakes, he ran into the motorcycle. He commented that his hand was less painful today than yesterday.

Greg Henderson of High Road finished second with Ivan Dominguez of Toyota-United finishing a close third.   Ivan managed to hold on to the yellow jersey for yet another day.  During the podium ceremony, he walked to the edge of the stage, bent down and graciously handed Carol his bouquet of flowers.  Needless to say, that act of kindness put a big smile not only on her face but in her heart as well.  Ivan and Carol seem to be getting along very well and that is part of the joy of following professional cycling.  Some of these guys are actually really decent people deep down.

We will be at the Stage 3 finish line and will get photos and results posted as quickly as we can.  We will also be posting the scuttle from today's post stage press conference as time permits.  As we worm deeper into the inner workings of this years Tour de Georgia we will try to pass the good stuff on to our readers.  This stuff is worth every dime it is costing you.  Oh yeah, its free and without ads.  What a bargain.
