2008 TOUR DE GEORGIA

EVEN MORE STAGE THREE

April 23, Still late in the PM...

As usual the stage was followed by the podium ceremony which consists of prize drawings for the spectators, announcements from the local politicos, and then the rider presentations.  In this sequence they start with the stage winners first and then the overall race leaders jerseys.  I guess you can follow this process pretty well from my photos.

After the podium ceremony a select group of riders and the press huddle up for the official press conference.  The press conferences have been pretty laid back thus far.  I expect after Brasstown and the final stage in Atlanta all the Johnny-Come-Lately's will pile in and turn it into a madhouse.

I was able to ask a question that I directed to no one in particular but asked that whoever wanted to jump in with an answer to let it roll.  My question was this, "Tomorrows Time Trial at Road Atlanta is going to be starting at the hottest part of the day and the track has no shade and a lot of asphalt.  Do you think that the heat of the "Georgia Hot-Sun" will play a factor in the Stage?

My question was fielded by race leader Greg Henderson who responded, "Due to the relatively short race distance of only sixteen kilometers I don't think it should be a factor unless we make a mistake by warming up too long and overheat before the race start."  So we got our shot in again while us smaller fish still get a turn to ask, whatzup?
