The rain stopped and the race continued. The guys in the break seemed to be cooperating but were never really pulling too far ahead of the field. There were not real fights on the sprint laps, just a small group trying to pull away.
Team High Road was not having any of this though. They drove the peloton for virtually the entire race. George kept his men working and protected their race leader. He was also keeping their sprinter rested and in position for the end of the race. You could see the finish of this stage playing out half way through the stage. This was to be High Roads day.
