Many people that build their first or even a few AR15's have only read some drivel on a discussion board or watched a couple Utube videos. There is nothing wrong with these sources but often myths spread on intenet like wildfire. If you want to build a quality gun you need a good bench manual. Over the years I have collected quite a library but obscure out of print books won't help if you can't find a copy. All books on this page are currently in print and some also available as an ebook but suggest owning a print copy and I have both in some.

A GOOD SET OF SHOP MANUALS IS MANDATORY

Above are a myriad of current shop manuals available and have personally read. The first, "AR-15 Rifle Builders Manual" is a small basic but very complete book for most builders with clear crisp pictures. The two next books by Glen Zediker are my favorites but the blue cover may be above the heads of some but his "Builders Guide" is a must have for anyone building a nice rifle. Patrick Sweeny's "AR-15 Bench Manual" is the book to have if just want one. The Lyman reloading guide is a nice resourse on loading for AR-15's in a myriad of cartridges.

MORE AR 15 BOOKS ON HISTORY & SPECS

For folks that are interested in the history of AR-15's and M16's all the above books are worth having in your library. The Guns & Ammo and Shooters Bible are both compilations of reprinted articles from popular shooting magazines.  If have an interest in cloning military issue firearms the black cover book and the two on the right are good resources.
