POINT BLANK IOTV SWAT POLICE KITS

Featured on this page are photos from ywo different kits. Both use Point Blank carriers but one has Point blank NIJ 3a soft armor and the other uses Galls branded NIJ 2 soft armor. When buying armor just because the panels on the inside are not the same make as the carrier does not mean it was cobbled together as many vendors buy pieces from different suppliers to combine and market themselves. Based on mood and if may have passenger in my small truck or not I either keep a plate carrier and helmet in seat or just drop this Point Blank overt vest with Velcro panels over seat like a seat cover. Have a pair of ultra thin ADI brand NIJ 3a plates and can sit with this behind kit behind you for well over an hour before feel any discomfort. Just behind the console have an IFAK, radio in pouch plus three magazine pouches (one carrying three mags of 6.8 spc II, one with three mags of 5.56 and one with three mags of 7.62x51) and if need to put on extra layer of armor over my daily wear covert kits can slap accessories I need on front in matter of seconds and its amazing how well the Velcro holds them but if have time there are straps with Fastex buckles to firmly secure accessories.

Below is the same carrier from Point Blank sold by Galls with thier NIJ 2 panels. It came with a pile of mollee accessories from IFAK, magazine pouches and accessory pouches but had to buy some specialty pouches for items I use. This kit wears just the same as the 3a kit thus the reason I usually opt for the extra full torso coverge from the Point Blank with NIJ 3a rated armor.

Below see rear of kit with molle and internal Galls panels. Have not peeled the Galls decals back but looks to me like they may have sourced the soft panels from another vendor then put their sticker over part of label naming their supplier for the soft armor. Will see below left and center the ultra thin NIJ 3a special threat plates I run in the NIJ 3a soft armor vest which will not stop rifle threats unless its a weak round fired from a distance but over my covert armor it gives me a gear carrier that adds enough ballistic protection can suck up handgun rounds to center mass without major discomfort and hopefully makes a hit from a rifle more survivable. While I have not seen these ADI branded plates for sale new in some time am always looking out for them on the secondary market as are stunning special threat plates at just over one pound showing minimal backface signature from most handgun rounds. When were first offered was paying $50 each new and purchased five so able to shoot one but now they run $50 to $100 on the used market when crop up.  With soft armor behind them my test fixture showed almost no blunt force trauma from most common handgun rounds and they stopped all handgun rounds tested even "hand cannon" cartridges such as 454 Casull.

On the right you will see the huge full coverage NIJ 3+ plates that actually wrap around torso and with the NIJ 2 soft full coverage armor under these big plates is more rifle kit than most people have. The front plate is 13.5" wide by 15" tall while rear plate barely fits because it is 11" wide by 13" tall. Very seldom can you find ceramic plates that large which are both comfortable and not overly heavy.
