Welcome to the CoolM14.com T44 M12 varient page,The T44 prototype rifle was a conventional design developed at Springfield Armory as an alternative to the T47. With minimal funding, the early T44 prototypes used T20E2 receivers fitted with magazine filler blocks and re-barreled for the 7.62×51mm round and the long operating rod/piston of the M1 replaced by the T47's gas cut-off system. Although it was not principally designed by any single engineer, one engineer in Harvey's rifle design group, Lloyd Corbett, is credited for several refinements to the T44 design, such as a bolt roller to reduce friction and a straight operating rod. As with other pages this may not take off swifty but it will eventually get filled out. Nobody pays us, this is a M14 addicts site for building and shooting a variety of nice rifles.    Unfortunately much of America is shifting toward communisim, some faster than others based on number of liberal voters. Most of these states have laws that infringe on how you can build a rifle, especially a militray style sporting rifle. Luckily not having a pistol grip makes the M14 one of the easier rifles to meet the required legislation in these states so once shave the flash hider, bayonet lug (in the webmasters 40+ years of owning MBRs other than to see if the original bayonet fit have never felt the need to hang a knife off the end off a rifle) The foundation for this build is a Bula Defense Systems T44 receiver and retains a near proper appearance for a proper T44.

BULA DEFENSE SYSTEMS T44E #11062 6.5 CREEDMOOR

laying out parts for my next T44E4 builds. Dug out a couple of unitized, USMC method, gas cylinder assemblies. Selecting bolts as I go along. Couple of USGI op rods. I think I like this part almost as much as shooting the finished products.  Above is set up with a Bula Defense Systems medium weight 22" barrel in 6.5 Creedmoor with National Match sights front and rear.

BULA DEFENSE SYSTEMS T44E4 #11061

Got Bula Defense Systems T44E4 11061 knocked out. Dang this if fun.  Used an LRB med weight all states compliant barrel, Jon Wolfe adjustable gas lock front sight. Then a mix of USGI and Bula parts to complete the barreled action. All headspaced and dropped in a USGI fiberglass stock.

Would like to do a shout out to Hawk for providing the unicorn of all M14 parts. Shown is the T44E4 connector arm mounted on 11050 my all Springfield T44E4 reproduction. Had a little spare time this afternoon sooooo, was just going to hand tighten a nice condition SA barrel from 1960. It timed to 10 degs. Oh Oh, here we go. I got carried away again using an all early SA kit and danged if I don't have another darn M14 rifle. Headspaced right at 1.633 with no additional effort..
