DAY AT THE RANGE & A GLITCH IS FOUND
First picture shows rifles ready for a day on the range. Top is the 1st Sergeant TRW heeled Bula S.A. with all TRW parts, Krieger Heavy stainless steel 1:10 barrel bedded in a USMC mac with a 2.5-8x Leupold VX-3 on a Bassett mount. Center is the "God Bless America" Bula XM21 with all Bula Defense Systems parts, Bula Memdiu National Match 1:10 barrel bedded in an M3 Macmillian stock with a NightForce ATACR 5-25x FFP mounted with Night Force 6 hole rings. Bottom rifle is another TRW heeled Bula with all TRW parts and standard weight chrome lined 1:12 bedded in laminated wood stock with a Leupold MK 4 fixed 16x. Noticed something rattling inside magazine, took it apart and found a piece of bolt roller. The Bula XM21 proved to be the culprit. Found the remaining pieces plus the lock ring inside the caming area of the op rod. Replaced roller, greased and ready to head back out. Keeping rollers greased on your M14 is a top priority, webmaster likes to use Lucas synthetic "Stickey Red" grease from automotive supply.
BORESIGHTING THE RIFLES INDOORS BEFORE MOVING OUTSIDE
First photo is rifle set up for boresighting new M14 with Leatherwood M1200-XLR. In the house at 14 yds using Site-lite SL-500 and BTC software to print target (second photo) for 175 gr bullet zero at 100 yds. Windage was dead on, elevation needed some adjustment and got it close enough for testing. Got out and did a little function fire with the new rifle. Some trigger work and should have a decent shooter in a traditional wood stock. Using mixture of LC 07-10 M118LR from TargetSports.
FINISHING OUT UNITIZED m14 GAS CYLINDERS
Hanging a small batch of freshly unitized gas systems over the wood furnace for their 10 day curing. Welded them up then sandblasted all old finish off. Next step is spray with Aluma-hide then set in the dryer at 90 degrees for 24 hours first, fter they come out of the dryer let them cure for ten to fourteen days.
