Just starting work on the "Trumpisher". This rifle will utilize my last SA/Bula Defense Systems receiver. It will have a USGI Springfield Armory bolt, trigger group, op rod and late USGI Springfield Armory rear sights, an LRB/Criterion 18.5" 1:10 twist parkerized barrel, USMC unitized gas cylinder with LRB Muzzle Brake on the end. Stock is a Springfield Armory walnut presentation grade from Fred's. Nobody pays us, this is a M14 addicts site for building and shooting a variety of nice rifles. PARTS ARRIVING AND COMING TOGETHER

Barrel and a few other small parts showed up today. Managed to spin on and index the new barrel before quitting time. Stock is scheduled for delivery tomorrow.

THE BUILK OF ASSEMBLY IS DONE AWAITING A STOCK

All together and headspaced, waiting for UPS to deliver the stock from Fred's. Had a pristine Harrington & Richardson op rod engraved, it adds a nice touch. Adding "We The People" and "Keeping America Great" finishes it off nicely. Having a ball assembling these commemorative rifles, looking forward to many more in the que.

STOCK IS AN OLDER SPRINGFIELD ARMORY WALNUT

The Springfield Armory walnut presentation grade stock arrived from Fred's. A little cleaning plus scrubbing with linseed oil and it should work out fine.

THE "TRUMPISHER" IS FINISHED AND READY FOR THE RANGE

Just came in from the Trumpisher's first range visit. Function fired 25 rnds. First 5 were at 50' to get the rough scope settings then moved to 100 yds for the next 20. Used a 4x Redfield on an old Bassett mount. Ammo is 136 gr flat base over 45gr of IMR 4064 in DAG cases. Temperatures were in the 40s and wind was blowing. Think this rifle might just be decent after it gets broken in. Target on left was rounds 6-16 on the new barrel. Right target was rounds 16-26. Moved POI up and to the right for the right target. Needs just a tad more elevation next time to keep em all in the X.
