While most people buy a scale for weighing powder as you advance toward looking for ultimate accurcy you may verify weight then sort your bullets by slight weight varitions matching them in lots so all the bullets that aaare a bit light go in one box, the heavier in another and the ones that aare right on the dot in a third box then as you load rounds keep the weight sorted bullets together for better groups at the bench. Some people weight sort cses and even primers based on how much tolerence stack they are trying to reduce in an attempt to get the smallest groups and most consistency at long range.

REBS MODEL 5-10 BALANCE SCALE

This RCBS Model 5-10 was my first powder scale t age 13 and is still serving me well today. Like all scales the key to accuracy is proper levelling, keeping it clean and in a draft free area as even the slightest air movement from a vent from your HVAC or even breathing on it can cause innacurcies in readings. Levelling is relatively simple, set the tenths wheel to exact zero, the weight on the beam to zero then turn the round pad on base of left side till the pointer on the beam is aimed at zero. After levelling it is always good to use a few assorted check weights to ensure nothing has become bent or has dirt affecting its redings, usually check my balance with a five, ten, twenty and fifty grain check weight to ensure its giving accurate readings from low pistol charges to big magnum rifle charges of powder but most importantly I make sure it zeros perfectly to the closest check weight to my powder load will be using.

METTLER PM 4000 ELECTRONIC SCIENTIFIC SCALE

When I turn on the Mettler PM 4000 it goes through a self diagnostic then comes up on 0.00 grams. In mode as comes out of the box it will read 0.000 grams but I have turned down the resolution otherwise when I turn it to grains it will read 0.12345 decimals of resolution and do not need it reading to the ten thousanth of a grain so reprogramming the resolution it reads to the thousandth in case I want to look at that last digit for thousanth of a grain but normally if load to the hundreth of a grain with a decent scale your ammo will be accurate as you could possibly need. Notice I start with the 50 gram check weight get it zeroed then drop a check weight closer to load I will be loading then once hapy scale is zeroed swith to grains.

PACT CHARGEMASTER COMP AUTO POWDER TRICKLER

The PACT Chargemaster Comp is actually two components that have the ability to "talk". You can program the dispenser to drop powder at different rates into scale then as it gets closer to programmed charge weight it slows down proportionately till its just barely dropping aka "trickling" a kernal at a time till scale hits prorammed weight and it quits dispensing till pan is emtied and it starts over with next charge. If your not trickling charges the scale is sold as a "stand alone" powder scale as well so it makes a fine powder sca;e you can later add the trickler if you choose. Like all scales from the most basic beam to most advanced scientific scale it must be zeroed to ensure it is reading precisely. Will notice in above photos have it reading 5.00 back to 0.00 then back to 5.00 grains so its ready to weigh some pistol charges.
