DEALS GAP A.K.A. THE DRAGON
The Dragon is an 11 mile section of U.S. 129 that straddles the North Carolina and Tennessee state line. While marked on the maps as Deal's Gap its nickname is the generally used name among the motorcycle culture. Folks come from all over the nation and the world to ride this stretch of road. There are 318 curves in just 11 miles. For sport bikes this is the Holy Grail of roads.
I know many folks that ride cruisers who have avoided this road for years. Don't let its reputation scare you. If you ride like you have a little sense you can get any bike across the Dragon, even a raked out rigid chopper. All you have to do is take it easy and play whatever game your comfortable with. Take a slow pass or two and if you feel good about it you can push it a little more after you have experienced the nuances of the Dragon cautiously.
