Bought my first 1911 at age sixteen and built my first race gun at age seventeen. That first was done on a budget frame and slide but using a local smiths tools plus advice it ran well enough for first 10,000 rounds was putting IPSC plaques on the wall of my reloading room but as fetl the side to frame fit wear requiring tightening the slide after my first season knew I needed to start on better foundations. Unfortunately for their collector value I turned several nice WW 2 vintage Colts into both limited and unlimited builds. I am working on over a dozen firearms sites and a dozen non firearms sites in spurts so please keep checking back as one might sit while another gets a dozen new pages or more.

SIG STX 1911
When added this SIG 1911 STX in 45 acp to the fleet I realized immediately the beautiful factory installed grips were just to pretty to risk scuffing up plus the super slick finish feels like it could cause issues in wet or high stress situations. I found a set of SIG Tacops grip panels online which I knew from owing a 1911 Tacops TB that they are very "sticky" and were very inexpensive. Before I could muss up the factory grips I just used it as a ramge gun till got the panels swapped out. While it still looks good it has lost a lot of its cosmetic beauty but its more functional as a carry gun and do not have to sweat damaging the original grips which are safely stored in the factory box. This pistol is one of my top five 1911's out of the box before any custom work was done.
SIG 1911 DOUBLE NICKLE COMPACT
This Commander sized SIG 1911 Double Nickle Compact is another out of the box beauty. It ships in a great lockable hard case and the factory installed grips may have the best feel and grip texture I have ever felt on a set of factory panels. In second photo notice its size compared to a SIG Tacops TB laying directly on top of the bigger gun and next picture shows it above a 5" SIG 1911 Target model. At present I own eight SIG 1911s and not only is the build quality top notch on all they have become my most carried 1911s as my Colt, Randall, Detonics and other older 1911s have grown to $2,000 and much more street value which I leave in the vault except for range and competitive use. Five of the eight after putting the first 500 to 1,000 rounds down the pipe were all sent to the SIG Custom Shop for minor modifications to make each perfectly suit my needs with all coming back with a crisp near perfect 3.5 pound pull trigger. I will build a few pages to profile each of these with their features, function and stunning accuracy. As much as I hate to say this I believe the SIG modified extractor is better than the original John Browning design.
SIG 1911 NIGHTHAWK
Have never been a "round butt" fan (in 1911s that is...), in fact generally don't even like arched mainspring housings but this pistol came to me and shoots sweet plus carries well for a five inch gun The pistol is almost as smooth as a custom melted build that has so few sharp edges its almost smooth as a bar of soap. The rear sights give a great picture but are no snag and no sharp corners. The only thing "sharp" is the texture on the grips which is a good thing when drawing from concealment or if have to "draw from the drop" and have no time to reposition the pistol. If looking for a full size carry that hides well this may be your gun.
SIG 1911 TACOPS FOR SUPPRESSOR USE
Ordered a pile of suppressors right before Nobama changed the Firearms Trust laws so I could stick all I could afford into my Trust. Of course when a man gets a pile of new suppressors he heeds some new suppresor ready pistols. I saw this all new in a mat finish, super chunky with the pic rail and just overall heavy feel felt it would balance out a suppressor well and that it does. Oddly purchased three SIG Tacops in their 2022 model as well due to bing full feature duty pistols at really rair prices with threaded barrels, tall tritium suppressor sights so instead of deterring sales Nobama sold me about six suppressors, same number of suppressor ready firearms plus a couple dozen "quick change" muzzle devices for my AR pistols and assortment of rifles.
