2006 BARRETT-JACKSON

AUTO SHOW AND AUCTION

The auction block is where the big action is.  This is where the television cameras spend most of their time therefore its what people see most of.  There is much more happening at the auction than the what occurs on the block but this is where the big action happens.  The on stage announcing for the live participants runs on a separate sound system than the speed channel's television feed.  What you hear on television is completely different than what the actual participants hear.

The television cameras do not roll all of the time and the bidder action is directly related to whether the cameras are on or not.  Notice that the small number of bidders standing on the block while the cameras are not running.  The bidding is also more subdued.  Bargains can be bought during these times for the careful buyer.  Quite often you can buy a car for pennies on the dollar of the actual build cost.  Once the cameras start rolling the block gets crowded and bidders become much more animated.  Folks quite often pay a premium just to buy a car on television
