THE ENGLISH CHURCH
WENGEN, SWITZERLAND
When we travel we always try to find a church to attend. When in Europe it is easier than you may expect to find services in English. We sometimes have to feel our way through services in German, French and Spanish but with a little effort this is seldom. If you are going to be traveling to Europe the Intercontinental Church Society is staffed and overseen by The Church of England. These missions are a blessing for both vacationers and folks that happen to live or work in Europe.
We did not discover the I.C.S. until our third trip to Europe. Now all our travels across the pond will be preceded with a trip to their website to find places to worship while traveling. While it is very nice to understand the sermon it has been entertaining to participate in services in other languages. One year we went to Christmas Eve services in Zermatt which were held in German. Following what was happening was difficult but it was still quite rewarding.
