AA4BA FARADAY CAGE

What some call a faraday cage, we call it by a more impressive term.  This Dr. Frankenstein grounding system is affectionately called the Electromagnetic Pulse Abatement System.  So this sounds either odd or impressive, according to your point of view.

This station ground is anchored by 1/2" copper pipe that runs around the base boards, crown mould and is joined floor to ceiling in the corners. There are a large number of wires that connect these copper pipes in a grid pattern of about 12" squares.  This faraday cages the the room through VHF frequencies.  The corners of the cage are connected to a series of copper plated ground rods.

There is also a copper ground bar that is used as a chassis ground for all of the equipment.  All of this is tied to the tower ground and unified building ground.  This gives me an very good electrical and RF ground for the shack.  Call me paranoid but I don't have to worry too much when a thunder boomer rolls over the shop.
