sunset park, Tennessee

Sunset Park is my personal favorite rock climbing area.  This is almost where I live from June until the cool fall days invite me to return to T-Wall.  You can climb for weeks here without clipping a bolt or repeating a route.  The few permanent anchors are so spread out you can almost imagine that they don't exist at all.

Please be sensitive to the rules and regulations here as they are in place to protect both the natural resource and our rights to climb.  Sunset was one of the first Southern areas to go through major access issues and access can only be insured by keeping a low profile.

With the exception of Ellen and a few others the local residents would just as soon see us banished.  Remember when you top out a climb you are basically in someone's back yard.  If you come out late or forget to pad a tree be polite to the Ranger giving the ticket.  The Ranger's are there to protect the area from being trampled and a few yes sirs and no sirs will make these situations much better for all.

If you have not been to Sunset Park you are missing the finest sandstone to ever be touched.  While the top-rope areas around Sunset Rock may be crowded just a short walk in either direction yields ample un-crowded climbing.
