2005 TOUR DE GEORGIA

THE COLAVITA INTERVIEW

Monday, 18 April 2005.

We spent the morning wandering the team area and talking with the players.  Most of them were very hospitable and willing to take a few moments to tell us what they thought about the race and their strategies.  The folks we spent time with was the Colavita Olive Oil/Sutter Home team.  These guys were the nicest group of riders a person could ever want to meet and were really excited about the race.

Frank McCormack the Director Sportif is in his first year of full time management of the team.  He worked part time with the team last year and said about the Tour de Georgia, "I am proud to be part of such a great event."  He went on to say that this event was "Wonderful!  Dodge is providing great support and the folks at Metalsports have done a Spectacular job of organizing the race."

This years Colavita/Sutter Home squad consists of 2 Argentineans, 1 Italian and 5 Americans.  Frank explained that their objective for the race was to win a sprint stage.  They will be concentrating on the flatter stages and the teams goal is to protect Juan Jose Haedo and get him in position for a end of stage sprint to the line.
