MOTORCYCLE & PARTS RESTORATION

We really enjoy working on motorcycles and while we do complete ground up restorations its not our "specialty". We put so much into complete builds using the best subcontractors for certain aspects most people would rather buy a completed bike or build it themself. For those who want to build a bike we offer many services to help them with our full metal shop, steel fabrication, CNC and manual machine equipment along with paint and sign specific graphics tools allow us to do many tasks self builders may not have proper equipment. People bring or ship everything from frames, front ends, a plethora of small parts needing repair and refinish to restore bikes with OEM parts. We do complete bike paint work but its not cheap. 98 out of 100 people who see one of our completed paint jobs get excited when tell them we do paint but then when they discover we spend close to $1,000 or more for just supplies the final price melts their brain and we get remarks like "the guy at Maaco said he would sand and spray my parts for $250". We drop $250 in dust from block sanding multiple coats of primer to get a perfect surface to spray then again close to the same in dust when do our final wet sand then "cut & buff" the clear coat to get a true custom mirror finish.

ROOM FULL OF HARLEY "HUMMERS" SOAKING IN OIL

1948 Harley Hummer Harley Hummer parts Room Assorted harley Hummer Frames

Above we have a room of Harley Davidson "Lightweight", "Hummer" or officially known as "S Model" single cylinder parts. They come in a partial or mostly all there rolling barn finds, frames with a few parts, bare frames that have been damaged, cut up or otherwise modified. On occasion one will have more rust than we would care for but we repair rusted out frames and forks as one of our most requested services. In the far right photo you will notice two frames have their front ends with them. Both are 1948 "first year" Girder front forks also known as "Rubber Band" front ends and we try to keep all our matching parts from frame to engine to even headlight bucket if it came in with it together so bike is as original as possible when finished. We stock everything from NOS rings, gaskets and more for the 125cc, 165cc and 175cc models.

OEM BRAKE PARTS CLEANED & READY FOR REFINISHING

REFINISHED. POLISHED WITH NEW BUSHINGS, GREASE ZIRCS, ETC.

Above photographs show a backer cleaned and prepped for rebuild and a front cleaned and ready for exterior to be polished. The second row of photos show both sides of a backer and the polished side of a front both with new grease fittings, new bushings on the backer and are what we call ready for the parts locker. Most end up black but not all so we never put final coat of paint or final polish on aluminum parts till they go on an actual bike. These parts could actually stay in a locker or closet for years till needed. Like front headlights which OEM are getting more and more hard to find we refinish many small parts in our spare time and put away not knowing when or if they will be used so no need to be show finish just protected from any damage and ready to bolt on if needed as is.

GOOD BUT NOT GREAT OEM PARTS GET SANDBLASETD TO CLEAN METAL

NICEST PARTS GET HAND STRIPPED RATHER THAN BLASTED

The above headlight shroud/speedometer housings seem to find me even if not looking for them but as parts get more rare and the lightweight Harley Davidson motorcycles much more collectable so I try to save all I can. The seat mounts are often damaged or rusted out so its a part I will not take a pass on if find. The two in red primer are nice and the one in black was blasted, primed, sanded and because I had black in my gun for another job I shot it as black will show every defect in a part immediately. Its not uncommon for me to do this as it protects parts better than primer if may spend years in storage and tells us exactly what needs to be done it its to be refinished to like new. many of these bikes had parts that were painted by dipping so they come out of a restoration much nicer than they ever were on the showroom floor. Many just want a working part for a rider to putt around swap meets on and a little "character" is not an issue and till we run out of slick parts we don't need to waste time putting a couple dozen of these into perfect condition.

LAYING SOME PAINT IN THE BOOTH

Custom harley Paint Custom harley Paint Custom harley Paint

The above orange paint looked horrible it was so hot before the pearl topcoat was laid down. We knew this was going to be an issue as goal was to get a pearl paint the color of an orange Creamsickle like purchased from the ice cream cooler on a hot summer day. After laid a few coats of the pearl getting shade of orange wanted then shot enough clear to still be able to cut and buff the paint smooth as glass without changing the color removing any pearl.
