MORE STAGE 1

The idea of doing a few laps makes a start much more enjoyable.  Usually a stage starts, the riders disappear and in just a few seconds it is over.  Having the peloton come thundering by a few times gives the fans much more bang for their buck.  This should be standard procedure whenever it is possible.  Lance and the Discovery Team quickly dropped to the back and in order to stay safe during this initial phase of riding.  There is no sense in putting yourselves in danger during the first few minutes of a six day stage race.
