STAGE 2 STATISTICS

Stage 2 begins in Fayetteville just south of Atlanta.  This is the start to see for those urbanites that live in Georgia's version of a concrete jungle.  This stage is approximately 123 miles long and covers rolling terrain that will again favor the sprinters.  With the final 25 miles trending mostly downhill look for the riders to be coming in fast and rested for a great final sprint.

This stage ends in Rome which is one of my five favorite cities in the state.  I actually attended college here at Berry.  This is one of the largest campuses in the country and if you get a chance you need to check it out.  The architecture is outstanding, especially the Ford Buildings.  Rome is the city built on "five hills" and make sure to go to the top of one and see how it all lays out.  It is a very charming town and hosts not only a stage finish but this years Time Trial as well.

Remember that if you get any real cool shots of this stage or have a comment to pass on to the peanut gallery please send it to bicycling@coolbicyling.com.  For high resolution printable .pdf files of these maps follow this link the the Official Tour de Georgia website.
