MORE STAGE 6

3:05 p.m. 24 April 2005

Discovery is driving the peloton and there have been no major breaks.  The pack is averaging 24 m.p.h.  One rider has dropped out wearing the number 94.  Don't have time to look up the name at present.

3:40 p.m. 24 April 2005

At mile marker 63 Andre Tafi has attacked and riders #122 and # 26 are trying to bridge the gap.

3:45 p.m. 24 April 2005

At mile marker 65, Tafi has a 22 second gap and some of the folks trying to bridge are being absorbed by the pack.  Now some of the other reporters are griping about not being able to buy liquor on Sunday and having too many Christian radio stations on the air.

3:50 p.m. 24 April 2005

Tafi and rider #122 are at the 67 mile marker with a 35 second gap and another group is trying to break away.

3:55 p.m. 24 April 2005

The breakaway now consists of four riders.  #32, 52, 115 and 122.  They have a gap of 1:30 and are at mile 71.

I will probably wait till about 8 PM to post anymore because the press room is not quite as much fun as it has been.  A couple of folks seem to either be at their wits end or have their last feeling hurt.  A few are also cracking jokes about us southern "Bubbas" and accents that these carpet baggers are not sharp enough to understand or appreciate.  I plan on going to the house after the race to type up my final thoughts and the final results.  Remember that if you get any real cool shots of this stage or have a comment to pass on to the peanut gallery please send it to bicycling@coolbicyling.com
